Europe's Pasts and Presents
Edited by Stephan Atzert and Andrew Bonnell

Year of publication: 2004
ISBN: 0 9585962 8 X

RRP: $45.00

This collection of essays by Australian and international historians comes from the Fourteenth Biennial Conference of the Australasian Association for European History (held at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, July 2003).

The essays bring together current research on a number of major themes: memory and history, histories of ideas, ideologies and empires, contested identities and ethnic and national conflict, Europe and the wider world, the history of women, genocide, and history of warfare. The essays cover the period from the late eighteenth century to the present, and include work on European history in a wider international context as well as the extent to which debates on Europe's history play a part in European life in the present. The collection includes work by distinguished international historians as well as emerging younger scholars.
