Writing Europe's Pasts
Edited by Christian Leitz and Joseph Zizek

ISBN: 0 9585962 5 5
RRP: $AUS 40.00
Europe's present and future are dominated by increasingly closer political and
economic union. The many divergent paths followed by European countries in the
past are gradually converging. Yet Europe's pasts, for good or ill, shape our
current thinking and will influence decision-making in the future.
Bringing together papers delivered at the 13th biennial conference of the
Australasian Association of European Historians in Auckland, this book
captures the results of new and exciting research in a wide variety of
important areas of scholarship including migration, nationalism, revolution,
war and dictatorship.
Christian Leitz is Associate Professor in the Department of History at the
University of Auckland. His publications, including most recently a book on
the neutral European states during the Second World War, focus upon
international history of the 1930s and 1940s with a particular interest in
Nazi foreign and foreign economic policy.
Joseph Zizek is Lecturer in Modern European History at the University of
Auckland. His research focuses on politics and culture in the French
Revolution.
